Welcome to the 44th entry in my song-inspired series of poems! This one ended up a little more abstract than some of the other poems I’ve done for this project, and a little more like something from Aleatory Poetry, which I actually found quite enjoyable to write, so I hope you enjoy reading through it!
First Poem In This Series: To Witness, To Behold, inspired by ‘Sowing The Seeds Of Love’ by Tears For Fears
Previous Poem In This Series: The Beauty Of Waiting, inspired by ‘Mexico’ by Danny Worsnop
Forever New
Forever new, forever changing–
forever finding new ways
to see through the same eyes,
forever noticing new details
in the same trees,
forever remembering the same person
wearing slightly changing faces,
forever wondering how long
it’s been, how long it will be,
forever forgetting to anticipate
that tomorrow tears a little,
rips a little, but also brings
a little more colour, sculpts
another edge on the puzzle piece–
forever waiting to not wait
and forever realising that life
is happening all the while–
forever growing, forever moving
forward, further, until the details
seem too many to forget, somehow–
and forever doesn’t seem so scary
when each day brings a new challenger
who remembers the last, who remembers the last–
and each time, a little stronger,
a little different–but forever
the same origin, the same heart.
