Blink And Become

It’s been a little while, but I’m back with the 46th entry in this song-inspired series of poems! This one was inspired by ‘I Love You But I’m Lost’ by Tears For Fears (and the very first poem in this series was also inspired by a Tears For Fears song – you can read that with the link below!). It’s just a short little sweet one, or I think so anyway, but I hope you enjoy reading it!

First Poem In This Series: To Witness, To Behold, inspired by ‘Sowing The Seeds Of Love’ by Tears For Fears

Previous Poem In This Series: I Want To Write On The End Of The World, inspired by ‘Godzilla’ by Blue Öyster Cult

Blink And Become

Green hair, purple eyes–
who do you want to be tonight?
Black horns, twisted and curling–
a returning visage, gone by morning;
are we all fractured into shards
of who we want to be, who we think
that we are, should be, would be
if reality shifted just a little
to the right?

I know you would still be there.

In every iteration, I see a hand;
studded with chrome, blackened nails,
etched with incomprehensible markings–
and the fingers intertwine with another’s,
and no matter the state of the universe
I know it is a certainty that we find
each other, and our colours bleed together.
