Are you a fan of my first supernatural young adult novel, Twisted Bloodlines? Well, you might be excited to learn that I’m currently writing the sequel! I have three books (so, a trilogy) planned for the ‘Bloodlines series’ – Twisted Bloodlines, Reborn Bloodlines and Broken Bloodlines. Would you be interested in reading the first chapter of Reborn Bloodlines? Great! It’s waiting for you just below!

Wasted
To be completely honest, this poem was born from boredom. I was in class and, having finished my work, turned to a new page in my notebook and wrote down a few lines. Then a few more. Then a couple more, just for good measure. I ended up with a poem! Well, I ended up with three. Only one is here today, though, and that’s ‘Wasted’, a commentary on how adults view modern kids’ childhoods as useless and wasted, largely due to screen time and not going outside like in the ‘good old days’.
Blackout
Some pretty short flash fiction for today, on the topic of blackouts. This was written for TYWI’s summer camp and has been edited and revised since, so I hope you enjoy this tiny slice of fiction!
Her Eyes Were Pebbles
Thanks to The Young Writers Initiative’s summer camp, here’s a cool piece on taking a metaphor and turning it into a full bit of writing. This is some flash fiction on the metaphor of eyes being ‘pebbles’, a somewhat cliched idea which I’ve hopefully given a new spin to. It does discuss death, grief and end of life care, so be warned!
This Is How I Want You To Remember Me
For today, we have a short story I wrote around the theme of self-image and how you might want other people to remember you. No real warnings to speak of, but it is a little bit sad. It actually has a very similar vibe to Lighter Fluid, my novella, which you can read for free here! But anyway, onto the short story!
WIP Screenplay Exercpt
For the Young Writer’s Initiative Summer Camp, one of the tasks was to turn a scene from my in-progress novel (The Demon Of Darkenhall Lane, find out more in Upcoming Releases!) into a ‘screenplay’ format. Personally, I found using a different format really fun, and it helped me to focus on the dialogue and consider how I write it. So, I’m sharing it here, in the hopes that you’ll enjoy it too!
Summer
Hi there! Are you ready for a super short, super punchy flash fiction piece on summer? If so, here is my entry for writerthreads’ Instagram competiton! It’s a one hundred and fifty word piece of descriptive flash fiction, thinking about the theme of summer (and especially how summer has changed recently). Hope you enjoy it!
Where It All Went Wrong
Something a little different today! As part of The Young Writers Initiative’s summer camp, I wrote a piece on one of my less-developed characters from my WIP, The Demon Of Darkenhall Lane, which you can find more information on by looking at my Upcoming Releases page. Today’s spotlight is Asher, the Soulless who lives on my main character’s doorstep. I’m considering turning his story into a novella, so stay tuned for updates on that! But, without further ado, here is the first part of Asher’s story, with some mentions of alcohol abuse, disease, death and homelessness.
Little Lost Lamb
Hello! For today, we’ve got a poem that I wrote for talesfromboredom and writer.joannafreire’s Instagram competition! It’s based on a prompt from oknice which you can find in the competition’s post.
Do You Want To Die?
Today’s post is another bit of flash fiction from The Young Writer’s Initiative’s summer camp, covering a similar theme with a slightly more optimistic mindset, if not conclusion. Be aware that death is covered here, as well as the presence of weaponry.
