Look At A Book: The Horse Who Fell In Scorland

As it’s release day for The Horse Who Fell In Scorland, it seems only appropriate for me to return to my ‘Look At A Book’ posts for this new arrival! If you missed it last week, here’s the link to my post with the first chapter of the book, which you can read for free. You can also read the entire eBook for free on Smashwords or buy the paperback on Amazon.

Look At A Book: Cicerone

Since we’ve already looked at Lighter Fluid, it made sense to me to come to my second novella, quite a different one. This is my darkest fantasy work to date, in my opinion, and it’s got a completely opposite ‘structure’ to Lighter Fluid – instead of a lot of short scenes, this novella contains six longer chapters with an approximately similar wordcount, and it’s my only long-form work that is in second person, which is always interesting. But anyway, let’s get into looking closer at Cicerone!

A Cicerone’s Poem

With the release of my upcoming dark fantasy novella, Cicerone, on the horizon, I thought I’d share a poem that fell in and out of the manuscript ever since its beginnings in 2018. I’ve been considering whether to use this particular piece in the novella or not, and how I would use it, for so long that it almost feels wrong to cast it aside, but I think it works much better as additional content rather than something contained within the pages of the novella. So, please enjoy this little accompanying poem to Cicerone, and make sure you’re subscribed to my newsletter if you’d like to receive a free ebook copy of Cicerone as soon as it comes out.

Cicerone Extract

So… hey! It’s been a while. Not going to lie, I’ve been super busy with my work, university and also writing for various projects, so I’m just happy to be able to have the time to sit down and write this blog post for you. It’s going to be a fun little excerpt from my upcoming fantasy novella, Cicerone–a little darkness, a little mystery and a whole lot of fun (or is fun the wrong word? Haha). You can expect this release to come within this month, so stay tuned for more news! For now, I hope you enjoy this little snippet.

Lighter Fluid Excerpt

Have you read Lighter Fluid, my gritty high school inspired novella, yet? It’s available as a completely free ebook on Smashwords! Already read it? Feel free to leave a review telling me what you thought, or even a comment on this post. For those who haven’t read it yet and want a little taste before they leap into a new book, here’s the first scene! If you love it, make sure to check out either the ebook or the print book!

Sweet Dream, Bitter Reality Excerpt

Looking forward to the release of my next novella, Sweet Dream, Bitter Reality? If you’re curious about the book, why not have a little taste right now? This is the prologue to Sweet Dream, Bitter Reality–or ‘Chapter 0’, as I’m calling it. I hope you enjoy this little introduction to my next novella!

Where It All Went Wrong

Something a little different today! As part of The Young Writers Initiative’s summer camp, I wrote a piece on one of my less-developed characters from my WIP, The Demon Of Darkenhall Lane, which you can find more information on by looking at my Upcoming Releases page. Today’s spotlight is Asher, the Soulless who lives on my main character’s doorstep. I’m considering turning his story into a novella, so stay tuned for updates on that! But, without further ado, here is the first part of Asher’s story, with some mentions of alcohol abuse, disease, death and homelessness.
