I feel like this week’s poem has a bit of a slower pace to it, but it follows in the footsteps of the past few weeks’ poems, which have flittered quite closely around the topic of memories and, in a sense, the creation of a personal history, which is something I’ve written about semi-regularly, so it’s nice to be on familiar ground for a while. This week’s poem was inspired by ‘Way to Fall’ by Starsailor, and I hope you enjoy it!

In The Corner Of A Nightmare
This week’s poem didn’t end up quite going in the direction that I thought it would, but nevertheless, I quite enjoyed writing this one. It veered straight into the world of dreams, daydreams and nightmares, and was inspired by ‘My Own Worst Enemy’ by Lit – as with all of the other poems in this series, the song is embedded below if you’d like to listen to it, and you can check out the first and previous poems in this series with the links below!
Paper Memories
As you might be able to guess from the title, this week’s poem is quite centred around the theme of memories, and more specifically those memories that we keep through actually writing things down–and the state that those memories might end up in after some time has passed. It was inspired by ‘Mess’ by Real Friends and is the ninth entry into this song-inspired poems series that I’m doing, and the links for both the first poem in this series and the previous one (coincidentally both inspired by Tears For Fears songs!) are below. I hope you enjoy this poem!
This Is For You
This week’s entry into my song-inspired poem series was inspired by another Tears For Fears song (just like the very first poem in this series, which there is a link to below!): ‘Head Over Heels’. Definitely a completely different mood than last week’s poem, but I hope you enjoy this one!
Sanctuary
Just a short poem for you today – rather than being from the collection of fantasy poems, or anything to do with the new short story collection I announced next week, this is just a random little poem that I came up with. Still, it’s a soft one, and I hope you enjoy it.
The Matter of The Chest
This week, I’ve got a poem for you and an exciting announcement – this poem was published in Issue I of These Writers’ Voices, ‘The Silence’, yesterday, which you can check out for free right here! If you’d like to just read this poem, I’ve included it below for you. This is a pretty personal one that covers three different stages in my journey of having top surgery, so I really hope you enjoy it!
Inexplicable
Back to the poetry this week! This one is just a little light-hearted take on the random appearance of spiders in places that really don’t seem beneficial for them, considering their fly-based diet. It’s just a fun poem, so I hope you enjoy it!
Numbers, Numbers, Numbers…
I’ve got another poem for you this week! Keeping with the theme of the past few weeks, this is another one that I wrote for uni, and I hope that it will be particularly poignant to anyone who’s ever been stuck on hold on the phone – which is, in all likelihood, most people. Anyway, here’s the poem!
There Are No Bears In Ormskirk
This week’s poem is a light-hearted one that I am delighted to say was published in Active Muse’s Varsha 2024 Poetry Collection, and which I also had the opportunity to read out at Wigan Pride this past Saturday. I did want to upload the recording of that here, but it turns out I can’t add videos to these posts directly, so I’ll likely be uploading it to my X/Twitter account and then linking that to the Press page like I did for my 2022 performance.
Chained Soul – Part Twenty-Nine
This is the last part of Chained Soul that is going to be released on my blog, Tapas and Wattpad. There is one more part after this, but I’ve decided it’s best to save that for Chained Soul’s official ebook and paperback release, so I hope you enjoy the penultimate part of Robbie’s story! Quick warning: this series does contain strong language, so if that’s not your thing, you’re free to skip this one!
