If you’re following me on Instagram, Threads or Facebook, then you might have seen an excerpt from the unconventionally formatted short story ‘The Cat’ on your feed this week – if not, don’t worry, because in this post you can read that short story in its entirety! It’s from my upcoming collection ‘Purgatory, Fangs & Rabbit Trails’, which focuses on short stories concerning afterlife, whether that’s purgatory, vampiric second life or godly interventions in varying forms. This story falls into the last category, and I hope you enjoy it!

Duke’s Descent
I know that we’ve been on a roll with the poetry posts over the last few weeks, but I’ve decided to give you something a bit different today – a short story! This one has an interesting background too, as it was actually the first time I tried out writing the character of Duke, who is the main character in The Horse Who Fell in Scorland. He’s in a similar setting but a pretty different situation in this short story, and I think it’s quite interesting to see how far the idea developed between this short story and the novella. So, I hope you enjoy Duke’s Descent!
The Horse Who Fell In Scorland – Chapter One
I have to say, it’s a bit of a strange feeling not releasing another Chained Soul chapter – that novel has dominated the blog since November 2023, but I’ve got another bit of fiction you might be interested in today. My fantasy novella The Horse Who Fell In Scorland is releasing next Wednesday, on the 10th of July, so I thought I’d treat you to a little sneak peek of the book with this first chapter!
Twisted Bloodlines – Second Edition Excerpt
Are you as excited as I am for the release of the second edition of Twisted Bloodlines on Friday? I certainly hope so! I’ve poured a lot of love and effort into this revamped (I’m using that pun so much, haha) edition of the book, with a completely rewritten story, improved characterisation, extended worldbuilding and a full 30k more words than the first edition! Today, you can get a sneaky peek at the new edition with this excerpt from Chapter One!
Purgatory Inc.
This is an interesting little short story exploring a possible afterlife, so I really hope you enjoy it! I think the overall vibes are similar to my upcoming novella Sweet Dream, Bitter Reality and also some of the poems in Aleatory Poetry, so feel free to check them out if you’re interested to see more of this sort of writing from me.
Me And E
A couple of fun updates this week! The Demon Of Darkenhall Lane’s formatting is coming along nicely, and it should be ready for publication in early July. I’ve also decided to participate in Camp NaNoWriMo again this year, with a new project which I’m keeping under wraps for now, so stick around if you’d like to learn more as I get ready to reveal the details! For the post, I’ve decided to highlight a fiction piece, Me And E, which was previously published in TUGZ Magazine’s second issue – it’s got a bit of a dystopian vibe to it, so I hope you like it!
Weight Of A God
Before we get into this week’s flash fiction piece, have you checked out the completely free ebook copy of On Gentle Wings available at Smashwords? If not, I would highly recommend giving it a go – and if you want to really support me, consider buying a print copy at Amazon, leaving a review for the collection wherever you accessed it or checking out my Ko-Fi. With all that being said, I have a flash fiction piece for you today which was published by Adoxography Literary Magazine in their second issue and unfortunately is no longer available, so I thought I’d share it here.
Cats Home Excerpt
I’ve got plans to release Cats Home and finish off the Cats Collection at the start of next month, so why not start preparing now by showing you the first chapter – subject to potential change before publication – today? If you want to get caught up on the series, you can look at CatsContinue reading “Cats Home Excerpt”
Cicerone Extract
So… hey! It’s been a while. Not going to lie, I’ve been super busy with my work, university and also writing for various projects, so I’m just happy to be able to have the time to sit down and write this blog post for you. It’s going to be a fun little excerpt from my upcoming fantasy novella, Cicerone–a little darkness, a little mystery and a whole lot of fun (or is fun the wrong word? Haha). You can expect this release to come within this month, so stay tuned for more news! For now, I hope you enjoy this little snippet.
